Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office closes for all legal (federal and state) holidays.

Services:

The Housing Authority offers attractive, affordable housing for low income families, elderly and disabled persons who meet eligibility requirements.

MARSH ISLAND APARTMENTS, BICKMORE MANOR, PENOBSCOT TERRACE and DOW III APARTMENTS offer one or two bedroom units for elderly/disabled individuals who meet eligibility requirements. Most are located within walking distance to banks, churches, doctor's office and a pharmacy. Our Marsh Island Apartments are unique in that we offer a Congregate Housing Services Program.


The CONGREGATE HOUSING SERVICES

PROGRAM offers supportive services to help residents of Marsh Island Apartments maintain their independence. Fees for services are based on income. These services include meals that are cooked on site and are served "family style" in the Community Dining Room or delivered to the residents' apartments; special diets as needed; and housekeeping services such as laundry, shopping, errands, etc.

The ACTIVITIES & SERVICES REFERRAL

COORDINATOR (ASRC) assists residents in all three buildings with a variety of situations such as providing service information, referrals and follow-up, defining potential problems and solutions and developing community-oriented activities. 

The HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM is designed to provide eligible families with affordable, decent, safe and sanitary housing.  Families select rental units in the community that meets program standards and the Housing Authority makes a Housing Assistance Payment to the owner on behalf of the participant. The Housing Authority covers a 10-mile radius of the city of Old Town including Milford, Bradley, Stillwater, Greenfield, Greenbush, Costigan and Glenburn. 

Our FAMILY HOUSING offers subsidized housing to eligible families. Housing units are located in Old Town on Meadow Lane, Anderson Lane and Chapman Street; all are conveniently located near the University of Maine. Two, three and four-bedroom apartments are available. Residents may pay a percentage of their income for rent.

Hillside Apartments are one-bedroom units in Bradley situated in a quiet, country setting with on-site laundry and Community Room. The minimum basic rent is $400 per month plus electricity. Eligibility requirements apply.

The FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY (FSS) PROGRAM offers the opportunity for upward economic mobility to in the Family Housing residents and Housing Choice Voucher Programs participants. It is the "Key to Success" for families wishing to become welfare free. This program offers supportive services needed to enable participating families to achieve economic independence. Participants are assisted in locating resources
